When a Daiquiri is not a Daiquiri

South Louisiana has a lot of daiquiri places. They are all over. My hometown, Lafayette La I bet has a dozen of them, and it’s not a huge city, probably 100K people. I’ve seen a couple of Daiquiris places in north Dallas and the two I’ve tried…are garbage. They are some kind of wine based crap. I don’t know how they stay in business. I want to say that I don’t care. Good for them if they can sell whatever to whoever. It’s a free country. But I always think that if I’m telling someone about drinking Daiquiris back home, or in New Orleans, and they have had those wine Daiquiris things, they probably think I’m so over rating those them. I’m not going to name names, but one of the places in DFW I tried did have a great po-boy. I’ll give them that.

If you are traveling on I10 and passing through the Lafayette area, take a quick detour and go to Daiquiri Depot. It’s only a few blocks off of the interstate. Hit the drive through an get ya some of dat. And oh yea, they have some great food too. If it’s crawfish season you can you get a few pounds to go.
