I work from home on Fridays and this Friday I went fishing at the neighborhood ponds on my lunch break. It was a beautiful day. It was sunny and 70 degrees. I fished with a plastic worm. Since I had a time constraint I didn’t change out lures and just kept fishing with the same one, or one just like it as the first one I was using got a little tore up.
I caught four nice little bass. The fourth one was the biggest. It felt about three pounds. I didn’t have a scale, but that’s my guess. The others were in the two pound range probably.
I’ve had luck lately at these ponds with bass. I’ve been fishing a lot lately, but previous years I didn’t fish these ponds as much, and when I did I caught catfish, bluegill, carp, but very seldom caught bass. One reason probably was that I had never fished much with plastic worms, or any plastics set up “weedless”. These ponds are full of vegetation and my trusty Rooster Tail did not work very well, so I kind of gave up on fishing for bass there. I was having a ball catching catfish and bluegill, but saved the bass fishing for other spots.
Earlier this year a told myself I was going to put in a little time and effort with plastic worms. Man has it been paying off, and weedless has really been the way to go.
